Earth Hour of Power

28 03 2008

I have been sceptical of the fad of climate change, however, we decided that there was no harm last year in switching off our lights for “Earth Hour”. The funny thing was, when we did we walked outside and could not identify another single participant in our suburb. One journalist suggests that the impact of turning your lights off for an hour is an indistinguishable drop in energy use?

Another article from the perspective of an Anglican congregation that has adopted a environmentally friendly policy suggests that the concept of stewardship of the Earth is a new concept only developed in the last 3- 5 years! Doh! What? See Leviticus 25:1-6. Nothing new here.

I think the wisdom proffered in Proverbs 12:10-11 is applicable. The righteous will always be considerate towards their livestock and will be conscientious in the management of their land and resources. Turning off lights might be a fun way to celebrate this effort but it won’t save the planet or the inhabitants, that’s Christ’s job :) (Romans 8:19-23)

“Goldcrown” is the monica I received from “Rogue Queen” prior Lily coming home. It’s a reference to a gold crown I received to save a tooth in February 2007.
