Who’s ‘da man?!
A friend recently recommended the film, World Trade Centre, starring Nicolas Cage. In particular he focused on the character of David Karnes as an example of courage and adventure etc.
I think there’s a distinction to be made between men who are inspiring and men who are good/great examples of manliness.
If they are held up as “examples” then Joe Average is never going to measure up because he’s never walked into a burning pile of rubble to rescue someone. Whereas if they are an “inspiration” their bravado can be used to motivate men.
Warming to the idea?
Worried about the global warming phenomena?
I’m not (yet anyway).
Do you know in 1975 (over 30 years ago) there was concern in the scientific community about “Global Cooling”!
So, do you get on the bandwagon or do you consider the alternate arguments? There’s even a video of the UK Channel 4 documentary available to consider. Also available on Google Video. (*view both sites with discernment)
Al Gore posits himself to lead the earth away from ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ - while leading them into a convenient lie - that man can fully restore the earth.
Man has a responsibility to care for God’s Earth. - Psalm 24:1 & Genesis 1:28, & 2:15.
Creation suffers from the curse of man’s sin and only Christ can restore the Earth and release that curse (Romans 8:19-25). That doesn’t lessen our responsibility, it does mean that we, through our own efforts, are unable to overcome the ultimate consequences of sin. The real inconvenient truth is that man has sinned and rejected God and the world lies in ruin until God restores it. (Revelation 21:1, 27)
What makes a family???
So what makes a family?
Is it blood and bone?
Do you need DNA?
Are you related?
Or do you have the same name?
If I could chose my family
Who would they be?
Would they have biology?
Would they be from the same seed?
You see my dad adopted me
I don’t have his DNA
I don’t have his ears
I don’t have his nose
We just don’t look the same
But my dad is my dad
And he loved me thru-n-thru
When I think of my family
I always think of him
I don’t have his genes
But his son I am still!
He gave me his love
He gave me his name
He taught me how to ride a bike!
He drove me to my football game
He used to take me fishing
On the bridge and on the boat
I help him build the chook house
I helped him build the kennel
I even helped him paint the roof
Of the Halifax Hotel!
We didn’t have biology
We didn’t have DNA
But we were still a family
No matter what you say.
My child will be my family
And though they won’t have my eyes and ears
They’ll have my love all their years
I can’t wait to take them fishing
I can’t wait to paint a house
I can’t wait to do all the things
That my Dad did with me
‘Cause my Dad is my family
And that’s what makes a family be
Lord Shiloh - King of Kings
The dirty little dokswerkers
brought a message today…
“its not our fault there’s a delay”
“Right!” said the King
“That’s not good enough!
Send envoy to the Hanyu King
I will call his bluff!”
A petition is the call
A royal request
To the greatest King of All
The King who is the best
His name is Lord Shiloh
His ruling always right
and all other Kings must bow
Gold Crown and Hanyu
his servants are they now
“Oh King Lord Shiloh
Please set the Regent free
Tell that Hanyu King
To send the child to me
The Rogue Queen is crying
That simply will not do
I must abate her pain
This petition must get through”
Now Gold Crown is waiting
His Queen by his side
To hear from Lord Shiloh
When the Regent shall arrive
Lord Shiloh is the master
All Kings his word obey
The Hanyu King must listen
The Regent is on the way
“Rest easy now Rogue Queen
Soon your throne will be full
The Regent will be here
And the kingdom will be whole”
A Jolly ol’ King
Old Gold Crown was a jolly old king
a jolly old king was he
But
he pined for his son
he pined for his daughter
and sometimes
he cried in his sleep
but he’ll not be glum
for soon he will hum
as he rocks his little child to sleep
